- May 2021 – CDC says masks off… and on that note, I’m going to pause any updates to this page until and unless needed. Glad to see so much progress made!
- April 3: Gov extends/updates statewide mask mandate to reduce restrictions in level Green on Dial.
- April 1: (no joke) Colorado reaches 1 Million people fully vaxxed.
- Mar 24: Colorado releases Dial 3.0 (relaxing restrictions further)
- Mar 22: Colorado opens mass vaccination centers across state (up to 6,000 shots per day each).
- Mar 19: Colorado Vaccine Eligibility enters phase 1b.4, includes 50+, restaurant workers, 16-49 with one chronic health condition.
- Feb 26: FDA Expert panel recommends approval of 3rd vaccine from J&J/Janssen under EUA.
- Feb 26: Jefferson County moves to Blue on COVID-19 Dial 2.0.
- Feb 23: JeffCo Public Health announces 70% of people over 70 receive vaccine.
- Feb 22: President Biden comments as U.S. reaches horrific milestone of 500,000 deaths from COVID-19.
- Feb 10: CDC updates mask research and double masks and tight-fitting masks can protect up to 96% of COVID-19 transmission.
- Feb 8: Residents 65+ and teachers/school staff now eligible for vaccination (part of vaccination group 1b.3).
- Feb 6: JeffCo moves to level Yellow under new Colorado COVID-19 Dial 2.0.
- Jan 12 – Golden City Council updates and continues citywide Mask Ordinance.
- Jan 9 – Mental Health Resources via the Colorado Covid-19 page.
- Jan 9 – Vaccine update: 173,000+ Coloradans have received 1st dose, currently in phases 1A and 1B (phase depends on the County as distribution is widely varied). 1B includes those over 70 years of age.
- Jan 4 – JeffCo (and all CO counties) move from Level Red on the COVID Dial down to level Orange (allows re-opening of restaurants to 25% indoor seating)
- Dec 20 – Colorado reports 22,000+ vaccinations for healthcare workers in 1A group (for reference, I am a nurse working in community Hospice, which is 1B). Jefferson County remains at Dial Dashboard Level Red (727 two-week incidence for infection).
- Dec 18 – FDA grants EUA authorization to second COVID-19 vaccine (Moderna)
- Dec 14 – Fittingly, US administers first official vaccine this morning in New York. Giddy up!
- Dec 11 – FDA approves (EUA) Pfizer vaccine, Colorado to receive first shipment next week. GOV warns this may extend into Summer to vaccinate all populations.
- Dec 3 – Golden extends mask ordinance through Jan 12th.
- Nov 20 – JeffCo and 14 other Counties go to new Red Level (no indoor dining, alcohol service stops at 8pm)
- Nov 9 – CO extends mask ordinance for 30 days.
- Nov 9 – JeffCo moves back to Orange (was level 3) on the COVID Dashboard Dial.
- Nov 5 – Golden extends mask ordinance through Dec 4th.
- Oct 29 – JeffCo adds new mitigation responding to increased hospitalizations (reduced private gatherings, no spectators at sporting events, alcohol sales stop at 10pm)
- Oct 23 – CO amends public health order 20-35 responding to increased cases/hospitalizations and reduces private group gatherings (no more than 10 people from 2 households).
- Oct 9 – CO extends mask ordinance for 30 days through Nov 8th.
- Oct 8 – Golden extends mask ordinance through November 6th.
- Sep 12 – CO extends mask ordinance for 30 days through October 12th.
- Sep 10 – Golden announces Creek restrictions will be lifted starting Sep 14th.
- Sep 10 – Golden extends mask ordinance through October 8th.
- Aug 24 – JeffCo public schools back to school for Fall! First two weeks virtual.
- Aug 21 – With daily cases decreasing, CO Gov extends last call for alcohol to 11pm (from 10pm) for 30 days.
- Aug 20 – Golden closes Clear Creek and access to it starting Aug 24th.
- Aug 14 – CO extends mask ordinance for 30 days (to Sep 13).
- Aug 13 – Golden extends mask ordinance through September 10.
- July 24 – JeffCo Public Health extends new outdoor mask requirement when unable to physically distance, emergency order 20-008, stated to be in response to going above allowable case counts for JeffCo variances.
- July 16 – State of Colorado expands mask requirements statewide with emergency order D 2020 138 for 30 days, in response to rising case counts. (JeffCo rescinded their July 14 order to follow the State order).
- July 14 – Jefferson County Public Health emergency order 20-005 extends mask requirements County-wide.
- July 9 – Golden City Council passes ordinance 2140 requiring mandatory wearing of face coverings in Golden, to be reviewed monthly, based on evidence of increased transmission and desire to: keep ourselves safe, keep each other safe, keep our economy moving forward, and give our children the best chance to return to school this Fall.
- June 30 – Golden City Council holds Emergency Meeting. Actions taken include closing Clear Creek banks/access in City limits until further notice (to be reviewed July 9); Authorizing City Manager to require masks in all City-owned and right-of-way public spaces (parks, sidewalks, etc); and announcing intent to have Emergency Ordinance for citywide mask requirements for all in essential businesses and outside when unable to maintain 6-foot social distancing. Mask Ordinance 1st/2nd reading July 8th/9th.
- June 30 – Gov Polis announces closing of bars again for inside service, partially in response to increasing infections and outbreaks in other states. He also announces criteria for counties and regions to apply for Level 3 of re-opening: Protect Our Neighbors. Regions must demonstrate low transmission, hospital availability and appropriate testing resources.
- June 4 – Gov Polis announces Safer-at-Home in the Vast, Great Outdoors. Includes opening for additional outdoor recreation, also gyms, houses of worship, etc.
- May 28 – Golden City Council passes Resolution 2732 allowing the City Manager to expand outdoor seating/displays along sidewalks, streets and alleys in Golden to improve public health and support businesses.
- May 27 – Gov Polis allows restaurants to re-open inside to 50% capacity.

- May 9 – Jefferson County joins Safer-at-Home (masks when outside of home, some non-essential businesses now open, continue recreating within 10 miles or county limits, at-risk people remain “stay-at-home”).
- May 6 – City of Golden supports private business requiring masks inside stores. (signs available for businesses to use)
- May 5 – JeffCo & Denver to start “Safer-at-Home” May 9th.
- April 27 – Gov Polis powerpoint slides describe the Why? How? What? of “Safer-at-Home.” Here’s Official State Order 44.
- April 24 – Stay-at-home extended thru May 8 for JeffCo & Denver. Non-critical biz can provide curbside service Mon Apr 27.
- April 20 – Stay-at-home ends April 26, Safer-at-home starts 27th
- April 15 – IRS extends tax deadline from April 15 to July 15.
- April 9 – City of Golden closes Clear Creek for waterway activities.
- April 6 – Gov extends Stay-at-Home to April 26th.
- April 4 – CDC releases guidance on making & wearing masks.
- April 3 – Gov urges “strong mask culture” when outside of home.
- April 3 – Denver schools remote learning through end of school year.
- April 1 – No fools, statewide schools remote learning extended to 4/30.
- March 31 – JeffCo County & Golden Stage 1 Fire Ban announced.
- March 25 – Statewide Stay-at-Home order for 3/26 – 4/ 11 (Public Health Order 20-24). Read Gov Polis Do’s and Don’ts List (Instagram).
- March 25 – JeffCo Public Health Stay-at-Home order (rescinded)
- March 22 – reduced: Non-critical in-person work force by 50%
- March 20: Restaurants can sell beer/alcohol to go or delivery
- March 19 – Closed: salons, massage, tattoo & elective surgeries thru 4/30
- March 18 – Closed: ALL Colorado schools thru 4/17, NO groups >10
- March 16 – Closed: Bars, restaurants, theaters, gyms, casinos.
- March 14 – Closed: Ski resorts.
- March 5 – First two COVID-19 illnesses reported in Colorado.
- Declaration history: Governor Polis declares State of Emergency March 10th, 2020 due to COVID-19; National Emergency declared March 13th, City of Golden Emergency Declaration March 18th. Stay informed & healthy!

Primary symptoms COVID-19 (per CDC): Fever (may be mild), Cough, Shortness of Breath. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure. Additional symptoms:
- Chills & Repeated shaking with chills
- Muscle pain
- Headache
- Sore throat
- New loss of taste or smell
